Go Safe : Be Aware
The ‘Share the Road’ campaign aims to raise awareness about the safety issues faced by pedestrians and to help them stay safer when crossing the road.
Visibility is a key issue for pedestrians and joggers, especially on roads with limited or no street lighting. It is advisable to wear bright clothes, preferably fluorescent and with reflective strips, at night or when the light is failing.
The Partnership also advises pedestrians to refrain from using personal music devices and mobile phones while out and about. These devices can be very distracting, especially when crossing the road, and limits the pedestrians ability to hear what is going on around them and identify potential hazards (e.g. emergency vehicles approaching).
